Not all those who wander are lost
I firmly believe that everyone needs to have a personal day every once in awhile. Today, I was lucky enough to get one! I have the next two days off from work and have nothing to do but whatever I want. So after cleaning my bathroom (which wasn’t the most fun thing in the world but was in desperate need) I lounged on the couch with a bowl of cereal and watched a movie. It felt nice to just relax without any time constraints at all. Since it was such a gorgeous day out, I decided to get out of our tiny apartment, bring my new issue of Cosmo, grab an iced vanilla latte from Starbucks and sit outside. It was exactly how I wanted to spend at least two hours of my day. I ran into a friend, and even met a couple new ones. I love that about being in a new town. I decided to take a break from that, went to my favorite store right now which I cant even remember the name of, looked around and eventually bought a book. The Girl’s Guide to Absolutely Everything by Melissa Kirsch. Books are seriously one of my favorite things to buy. Maybe even tied with clothes. (whoa) Casually walked home still enjoying the weather. Even though I’m graduated and don’t have homework anymore, I still decided to join my best friend/roomie at the library. While she did some studying I continued reading my Cosmo, learning things of a different subject. Got lost for a while walking home. But honestly the satisfaction of finally figuring out where you are feels so good I kind of like getting lost sometimes. It never hurts to see new parts of town and get to see your surroundings like you might not otherwise. Continued the greatness of the day with a grilled cheese and soup for dinner, topped it all off with watching Country Strong.

Oh and did I mention I actually have the time to sit down and write this?? I can barely even remember the last time I’ve done anything but a reblog or a few sentences or pictures.
While, I’m sure a recap of my day isn’t the most exciting thing in the world, I just felt so good about the whole day that I wanted to share it. Also to say that it’s never a bad thing to take the time to do things YOU really want to do. Spending time alone and just focusing on yourself can be the best thing for you. Try it sometime.
I really need to go on a trip soon. Better start saving some money. Vegas perhaps?
Goodbye Ames
Well, it’s officially my last night in Ames before I head off to Iowa City tomorrow. I haven’t even really had the time to think about it because I’ve been so busy packing and cleaning and trying not to get stressed about it. But now that most of that is done I’ve started to realize that it is actually a little sad. The last four years here have been pretty amazing. The people here are awesome. And it’s just so damn pretty. ( I can post the pictures to prove it.) I will miss tailgating season which is pretty depressing, but I will ALWAYS be a Cyclone…no matter what city I’m in. Although, a little piece of my heart will now have to go to the Vikings, Jets, and Raiders to cheer on some pretty incredible Cyclone boys :). While it’s all a little overwhelming, I’m excited to start a new adventure in a new city. It’s definitely a step in the right direction and I can’t wait to see where I go from here!
